Laying the foundations for innovative and sustainable policy
Whilst the concept of Evidence Based Policy (EBP) is far from new the movement for this type of policy has received a boost through the government’s reform agenda for the APS. With increased pressure on departments to tailor practices and respond to global issues that may be intrinsically uncertain, the urgency for effective policy making has never been greater.

In order to keep pace with fellow states and international governments, departments continue to strive for innovative policy through timely and relevant statistical data.

Evidence Based Policy Making 2009 fleshes out the key elements that underpin this method of policy making from the research to the policy design stage.

You will take away:
  • Expert analysis on the theoretical and practical implications of an evidence based approach from a whole-of-government and departmental perspective
  • Case studies on the importance of establishing cultural environments that facilitate this process
  • Methods for developing more efficient partnerships between researchers and policy makers
  • The expertise needed to contribute towards innovative and effective policy with systematic and robust frameworks
